The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with the couple’s two children, Archie and Lilibet.

Buckingham Palace has confirmed that Prince Harry will be present at the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla without his spouse, Meghan Markle.

Instead, the Duchess of Sussex will stay at their California residence with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

“Buckingham Palace is delighted to announce that the Duke of Sussex will participate in the coronation service at Westminster Abbey on May 6.”

“The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.”

This announcement follows months of conjecture about whether the couple would attend the event, scheduled for Saturday, May 6.

After the palace’s statement, royal affairs expert Omid Scobie tweeted: “I understand that Archie’s fourth birthday (also May 6) played a part in the couple’s decision.”

He continued: “Prince Harry is anticipated to make a relatively brief trip to the UK, solely attending the coronation ceremony at Westminster Abbey.”

Harry detailed his issues with the royal family in his contentious autobiography Spare, released in January alongside the Netflix documentary series Harry & Meghan. The memoir was the fastest-selling nonfiction book, with 1.4 million copies sold on its first day.

In March, the Duke unexpectedly visited the UK for a hearing at London’s High Court in his lawsuit against Associated Newspapers, the publisher of the Daily Mail, over allegations of illicit information gathering.

The publisher aims to resolve lawsuits filed in the High Court by individuals such as Harry, Sir Elton John, and Baroness Doreen Lawrence, who allege illegal activities in their publications.

The illicit acts allegedly involved hiring private investigators to covertly install listening devices in cars and homes and record private phone conversations.

The publisher denied the allegations, characterizing them as “ridiculous smears” and a “premeditated and coordinated attempt to involve Mail articles in the wiretapping scandal.”

The coronation of Carlos and Camila will be held at Westminster Abbey in London, with an estimated 2,000 guests in attendance. This is a significant departure from the 8,000 guests at Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation in 1953.

The upcoming coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla is expected to be a significant event, despite the reduced number of guests compared to Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation in 1953. The royal family and other dignitaries will attend the event, marking a new era for the British monarchy.

The absence of Meghan Markle at the coronation has sparked conversations about the couple’s relationship with the royal family, which has been under strain since they decided to step back from their royal duties and move to California. Their candid interviews and the release of Prince Harry’s autobiography have further revealed the extent of the rift between the couple and the British monarchy.

Nonetheless, Prince Harry’s decision to attend the coronation suggests a willingness to connect with his family and fulfill his responsibilities as a royal family member, even if only for ceremonial occasions.

The coronation will likely be a significant media event, with people worldwide watching as King Charles III and Queen Camilla ascend to the throne. The royal family will continue to navigate the complexities of their relationships with one another and the public eye as they strive to uphold their traditional roles and adapt to the evolving expectations of the 21st century.
