Tom Holland, the face of Spider-Man, recently expressed his plans to take a hiatus from acting for a year, influenced by the gruelling experience of filming his latest series, The Crowded Room, for Apple TV+.

He communicated his decision in an interview with Extra, published on June 6, explaining how the role and his responsibilities as a producer combined into an overwhelming experience. “We delved into emotions that I hadn’t encountered before, and managing everyday issues on a film set as a producer added another layer of stress,” he shared.

The Spider-Man: No Way Home star stated, “I’m going to take a break for a year, a decision born from the intense demands of this series.”

Despite the adversity encountered during the production of The Crowded Room, where he portrays a man implicated in a late-’70s New York shooting, Holland is satisfied with the efforts made by the entire team.

He admitted, “I have always believed in the value of hard work and enjoyed it. However, this series pushed me to my limits. There came a point when I realized I needed a break.”

With anticipation, he added, “I’m eager to see the outcome and feel confident that our efforts have not been wasted.”

In The Crowded Room, Holland’s character, Danny Sullivan, is pulled into the vortex of a 1979 shooting in New York City. His story is gradually unveiled through a captivating series of interviews conducted by detective Rya Goodwin, brought to life by Amanda Seyfried.

Stepping away from acting is not Holland’s only measure to prioritize his mental health. Last August, he disconnected from social media, finding platforms like Instagram and Twitter overstimulating and overwhelming.

Holland addressed his fans in an Instagram video, expressing, “I spiral when I see online comments about me. It significantly impacts my mental health, so I have decided to step back and delete the app.”

In closing, he shared a supportive message for those dealing with similar issues.

He remarked, “There is a negative perception around mental health, and seeking help is not something we should feel embarrassed about.”

Tom Holland’s decision to step back from acting and social media is an essential reminder that taking care of one’s mental health should always be a priority. Despite his fame and success, Holland’s open discussion about his struggles conveys that anyone, regardless of their stature, can face challenges and require time to recuperate. His candidness could inspire others to understand that seeking help for mental health issues is not a sign of weakness but a commendable step towards better well-being.
