Major League Baseball (MLB) is revolutionizing the fan experience with a cutting-edge hands-free entry system. Utilizing facial authentication and AI security, the league aims to streamline stadium access while maintaining top-notch safety measures.

This innovative approach is currently being tested at select venues, promising to eliminate the hassles of physical tickets and barcode scans.

Streamlined Entry with Facial Authentication

Gone are the days of fumbling for tickets or waiting in long lines at stadium gates. MLB has partnered with the Philadelphia Phillies to pilot a groundbreaking program known as Go-Ahead Entry.

This initiative allows ticketed fans to bypass traditional security procedures by walking directly into the stadium using facial scans. The system, launched on August 21, aims to enhance convenience without compromising security.

Advanced AI Security and Frictionless Experience

The Go-Ahead Entry program employs the advanced AI sensor technology of Evolv Technology. Fans aged 18 and above can register for the service through the MLB Ballpark app by taking a single selfie.

This photo is transformed into a unique numerical token that grants access to the stadium. Notably, the system instantly deletes fan photos after processing, ensuring data privacy and security.

Positive Fan Response and Future Prospects

Early reception of the hands-free entry system has been overwhelmingly positive. More than 7,000 fans had already enrolled in the program during a three-game series against the Angels.

Fans appreciate the seamless entry process, devoid of the need to display tickets or undergo time-consuming security checks. MLB executives suggest that if the program continues to succeed, it could potentially expand to other ballparks in the upcoming season.

Shaping the Future of Stadium Access

MLB’s hands-free entry system marks a significant stride toward a more efficient and enjoyable fan experience.

Through facial authentication and AI security, fans can relish the convenience of swift entry while still prioritizing safety. Unlike facial recognition for surveillance purposes, this system solely focuses on authentication, underscoring the league’s commitment to fan comfort and privacy.

As the program gains traction and garners positive feedback, it holds the promise of revolutionizing how fans access their favorite baseball games.
