The highly anticipated live-action remake of Disney’s Snow White, starring Rachel Zegler, has finished filming and is nearing its theatrical release. This project, which has faced several challenges, marks a milestone in Disney’s series of live-action adaptations.

Disney and Its Live-Action Remakes

Disney continues its tradition of transforming its animated classics into live-action films. Snow White, based on the studio’s first animated movie, “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” from 1937, is one of the most anticipated productions. Rachel Zegler, known for her role in “West Side Story,” takes on the lead role in this remake.

Production Challenges and Delays

The path to completing Snow White has not been easy. Like many productions, the live-action Snow White was affected by last year’s strikes, resulting in a significant delay. Originally scheduled to premiere this spring, the movie is now set for a 2025 release.

Additionally, the Snow White team had to return to the set this month to shoot new scenes. However, this did not discourage the cast or production team. Rachel Zegler shared on Instagram that filming has finally wrapped. “I am very proud and excited,” Zegler said, adding, “I love these people very much,” referring to the team she has worked with intensely.

Disney’s Upcoming Live-Action Projects

The Snow White remake is not the only live-action project on Disney’s horizon. “Mufasa: The Lion King,” the sequel to the 2019 remake of “The Lion King,” will hit theaters this winter, marking another significant release. In the realm of sequels, “Cruella 2” is also in development.

Meanwhile, the live-action version of “Moana” is scheduled for a summer 2026 release, following the release of the animated original’s sequel in 2025. Additionally, live-action versions of “Lilo & Stitch” and “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” are in the works, further expanding Disney’s repertoire of reimagined classics.

Anticipation

With the end of Snow White’s filming, the anticipation for this adaptation grows. Fans will be able to enjoy the new version in March of next year, a date marked on many calendars. Rachel Zegler and the production team have worked hard to bring this magical story to a new generation, and the excitement builds with each passing day.
