A Mammoth Journey Back to the Ice Age
The Pleistocene era is calling us back! Disney and 20th Century Animation have officially announced that “Ice Age 6” is in production. Fans can rejoice as the beloved characters Manny, Sid, Diego, and Ellie, along with the quirky Buck, prepare for another epic adventure. The franchise’s leading voice actors, Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary, Queen Latifah, and Simon Pegg, are confirmed to reprise their iconic roles.
Ray Romano, who voices Manny, shared his excitement in a video announcement, humorously braving the “arctic chill” while wrapped in winter gear. “It’s been an amazing journey with the herd, and I’m thrilled to return to these characters again,” Romano said.
A Franchise With Staying Power
The original “Ice Age” movie premiered in 2002, creating an enduring legacy with humor, heart, and prehistoric antics. Over the years, the series has expanded with four sequels, including the 2016 hit “Ice Age: Collision Course,” which grossed a remarkable $408.5 million globally.
In addition to the films, there have been shorts, spin-offs, and even a 2022 Disney+ special, “The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild.” While critical reception has sometimes been frosty, with the last film receiving an 18% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, audiences have remained loyal to the franchise. “The fans’ love for these characters has kept this series alive,” said John Leguizamo, the voice of Sid the sloth.
Disney’s New Era for “Ice Age”
“Ice Age 6” marks a significant milestone as the first film in the series produced under Disney’s ownership. In 2019, Disney finalized its acquisition of 21st Century Fox, securing rights to iconic franchises like “The Simpsons,” “X-Men,” and “Ice Age.” With this new chapter, fans eagerly anticipate how Disney’s vision will shape the beloved series.
Queen Latifah, who voices Ellie, said, “It’s always an honor to bring these characters to life, and I can’t wait for audiences to see what’s in store.”
A Long-Awaited Return
While Disney has yet to announce a release date for “Ice Age 6,” production is officially underway. This news has sparked excitement among fans who have grown up with Manny’s courage, Sid’s humor, and Diego’s bravery.
As Denis Leary, the voice of Diego, aptly put it, “These characters are family now—both to us and to the fans. It’s time to bring them back where they belong: on the big screen.”
The Adventure Continues
The return of “Ice Age” promises to bring warmth to our hearts even in the coldest cinematic landscapes. With its all-star cast and Disney’s magic touch, the franchise is poised for yet another successful chapter.
