LG Group Teams Up with Parsons School of Design for AI

LG Group, a South Korean multinational conglomerate, has joined forces with the Parsons School of Design in New York to create AI technology that can support art and design education. 

Over the next three years, the two organizations, LG AI Research and Parsons, will undertake various projects aimed at advancing AI technologies, leveraging Parsons’ expertise in fashion, design, and media.

The main objective of this collaboration is to develop AI-powered applications relevant to design and art practices and publish their findings. 

LG AI Research’s super-giant AI platform, EXAONE, which served as the source for the virtual fashion designer showcased during New York Fashion Week, will play a crucial role in this effort. 

The company also aims to construct an extension to EXAONE, called EXAONE Atelier, that will integrate all the research outcomes from its partnership with Parsons.

Bae Kyung-hoon, the chief of LG AI Research, stated in a recent statement that the collaboration with Parsons will enable the development of an expert AI system that incorporates the knowledge and expertise of various human experts, maximizing human creativity and productivity. 

Cynthia Lawson Jaramillo, the dean of Parsons’ School of Design Strategies, expressed her excitement about the new partnership, saying that it further solidifies Parsons’ commitment to the forefront of art and design education.
