The coastal town of Margate witnessed an unexpected scenario when Hollywood icon Pedro Pascal decided to pay a visit. It’s not every day that an actor of his calibre graces a quaint English town, making it an occasion worthy of headlines.

However, Pascal, known for his roles in “The Last of Us” and an Emmy nominee, found the doors closed to an art showcase celebrating him this past Sunday.

Joined by art aficionados and podcasters, Robert Diament and Russell Tovey, the group realized to their surprise that the exhibit was not open.

Making light of the situation, the group commemorated the moment with a selfie outside The Rhodes Gallery, humorously captioning it as “Margate art friends reunited.”

In the background, one could spot a monochromatic sketch of Pascal and a sign by artist Heidi Gentle Burrell. The caption intrigued many, stating: “ADHD hyper fixation & why it looks like I LOVE PEDRO PASCAL.”

Speaking to The Independent, Burrell expressed her mixed feelings about the situation, admitting her slight dismay that the visit coincided with the gallery’s day off. She remains hopeful for a revisit when the gallery is operational.

Diament and Tovey are well-known personalities in the art world, hosting the popular ‘Talk Art’ podcast. The Rhodes Gallery also gave a nod to this unexpected visit by sharing the memorable snapshot, along with a few pieces from the artist, on Instagram.

Jessica Rhodes Robb, the gallery’s co-owner, expressed her admiration for the exhibition and regretted the unintentional snub. She mentioned reconsidering their Sunday closure and hinted at a special gesture of apology for Pascal.

Hailing from Chile, 48-year-old Pascal has been steadily ascending Hollywood’s ladder, showcasing his talents in notable projects such as HBO’s “The Last of Us” and “The Mandalorian.” His portrayal of nuanced fatherly figures has led fans to endearingly label him “Daddy” on various social platforms. Tovey playfully alluded to this moniker in his comment: “Daddy is a state of mind.”

Located approximately 70 miles from London, Margate recently garnered attention when street artist Banksy chose it as a canvas for his Valentine’s Day creation.

As the news of Pascal’s unexpected visit spreads, it serves as a reminder of the unpredictability and charm of the art world. Whether it’s the appearance of a Banksy mural or the surprise visit of a Hollywood star, Margate seems to be establishing itself as an unexpected nexus of art and celebrity. One can only wonder who or what the coastal town will attract next.
