After officially announcing the construction of a Tesla Gigaplant in Nuevo Leon, Governor Samuel Garcia took to social media to express his gratitude towards the company and its owner, Elon Musk.
“The richest man in the world has placed his trust in Nuevo Leon, Mexico, for his new Gigafactory and the production of the latest generation of vehicles,” Governor Garcia wrote in English, tagging Elon Musk.
“The future is bright. Thank you, Elon Musk. Thank you, Tesla,” he added.
Before travelling to Austin for the event announcing the Gigaplant investment, Governor Garcia recorded a message highlighting that the investment would create approximately 35,000 jobs and remain in the state, something many countries had been hoping for.
“Countries such as China, Germany, England, Brazil, and Canada all wanted this plant, but Mister Musk chose Mexico,” he explained.
“Nuevo Leon needed Tesla, and Tesla today needs Nuevo Leon. They have many similarities: Nuevo Leon and Tesla represent the future, globalization, connectivity, and electrification.”
During Investor Day on Wednesday, Elon Musk, Tesla’s CEO, announced the construction of the Gigaplant in Santa Catarina, Nuevo Leon, which will produce the latest generation of vehicles.
“We will have an inauguration ceremony and lay the first stone. I am thrilled to announce that the next gigafactory will be located in Mexico, near Monterrey,” he said.
Elon Musk emphasized that expanding production was not about moving production from one location to another but expanding the company’s global production.
Governor Garcia expressed his excitement about the new Gigaplant, saying it was a huge opportunity for Nuevo Leon and Mexico. The construction of the Gigaplant is expected to bring numerous economic benefits, including job creation and an influx of investment into the region.
