Robert De Niro has once again become a father.
The acclaimed actor initially disclosed this personal news during an interview promoting his latest film, “About My Father.”
During the interview, the veteran actor, aged 79, gently corrected Brittnee Blair, the interviewer, when she referred to his already-known six children. “Seven, actually,” De Niro replied, revealing, “I just had a baby.”
Although De Niro is a father to six children from previous relationships, the identity of the mother of his seventh child remains unknown.
The star of “The Godfather” also expressed his enjoyment of fatherhood, emphasizing his belief in demonstrating love towards his children while maintaining a firm hand when necessary.
Declining the label of a “cool dad,” De Niro humbly joked about how his 11-year-old daughter, whom he cherishes, can sometimes give him a hard time. He grinned, referring to his newest addition, “And my youngest now, there’ll be more to come.”
The renowned actor was married to Diahnne Abbott from 1976 to 1988, with whom he has two children, Drena and Raphael. In 1995, his then-girlfriend Toukie Smith gave birth to twin sons, Aaron and Julian. De Niro was also previously married to Grace Hightower until their separation in 2018. They share a son, Elliot, and a daughter, Helen Grace.
De Niro, widely recognized for his role in “Raging Bull,” for which he won an Oscar, has always kept his personal life relatively private. Thus, the surprise announcement of his seventh child was uncharacteristic of the seasoned actor.
