“Liam Should Be the One Talking,” Says Pataky about Cyrus’ Tune

Elsa Pataky, the wife of Chris Hemsworth, spoke out about the rumours surrounding Miley Cyrus’ song “Flowers” and its connection to her ex-brother-in-law, Liam Hemsworth. Pataky commented during an interview with the Spanish publication Europa Press while attending an event in Spain for shoe brand Gioseppo, where she serves as an ambassador. This came a month after fans speculated that “Flowers” was about Liam.

During the interview, Pataky addressed the 2019 breakup between Liam and Cyrus and expressed support for her brother-in-law. “It’s an old topic for us,” she said. “If anyone should talk, it should be Liam, but I believe she can do what she wants.”

When asked if she kept in touch with Cyrus, Pataky replied, “No, we live in different countries, and it’s difficult.”

Before the breakup, Pataky and Cyrus appeared to have a close relationship. The two got matching wave tattoos in 2016. Pataky spoke about their tattoos in an interview with Vogue Australia in 2020, saying, “I don’t regret any of them. They’re symbols, and I love having them as they remind me of those moments.”

Miley’s sister, Brandi Cyrus, also commented on the rumours about “Flowers” and its connection to Liam. During a January episode of her podcast with Adam Wells, Your Favorite Thing, she was asked about the speculation and said, “I’m not here to say what’s true and what’s not. I’m letting it be… It’s a personal experience, and only Miley knows the truth.”

When “Flowers” was released, fans quickly shared their theories about the song’s connection to Liam. For instance, Cyrus released the song on January 13th, which is Liam’s birthday. Fans also believed that the song’s self-love theme in the chorus was a reference to Bruno Mars’s “When I Was Your Man,” which Liam reportedly dedicated to Cyrus while they were together.

Another theory was that the song references the alleged infidelity in Cyrus and Liam’s marriage. Some fans claimed the music video was filmed in the house where Liam was said to have cheated on Cyrus with 14 different women.

Although Cyrus and Liam have not commented on these cheating allegations, Cyrus revealed in 2019 that cheating was not the reason for the end of their marriage. “I can admit to many things, but I refuse to admit that my marriage ended because of infidelity. Liam and I have been together for a decade. I’ve said it before, and it still holds, I love Liam and always will,” she tweeted.

The couple first got engaged in 2012 but called it off in 2013. They got engaged again in 2016 and officially married in December 2018, only to announce their separation seven months later. Liam filed for divorce in August 2019 and finalized the separation in February 2020.

Despite their breakup, Cyrus and Liam have continued moving forward with their respective careers. Cyrus has released several hit songs and even hosted the 2021 Grammy Awards, while Liam has starred in several films and TV shows.
