The entertainment world has received confirmation that Paramount+’s celebrated “iCarly” reboot will be signing off. After a thrilling three-season ride, the show, which evoked nostalgia and captured the hearts of both old and new fans, is closing its curtains.
Variety has confirmed that the “iCarly” reboot will not return for a fourth outing on the streaming platform. The show’s surprising termination was met with Paramount+’s heartfelt statement from Paramount+ “’iCarly’ will not be returning for a fourth season on Paramount+. The series had an excellent three-season run and delivered on what fans wanted to see with Carly and Freddie finally getting together. We want to thank the entire cast, the writers, directors and producers, and the whole crew for their dedication, creativity and talent,” the spokesperson conveyed.
The decision to relaunch “iCarly” in 2020 was a nostalgic dive, picking up a decade after where the original left off. It showcased Carly Shay, portrayed by Miranda Cosgrove, stepping into adulthood. Alongside her were familiar faces – her brother Spencer (Jerry Trainer) and lifelong friend Freddie (Nathan Kress). Together, they sought to bring the beloved web show back to life. The reboot also introduced characters like Carly’s new friend, Harper, played by Laci Mosley, and Jaidyn Triplett, who took on the role of Freddie’s stepdaughter, Millicent.
For those who recall, the original “iCarly” series was a Nickelodeon sensation, running for a commendable six seasons between 2007-2012 and producing 97 episodes.
Notably, “iCarly” wasn’t the lone revival at Paramount+. The streaming service had previously reintroduced shows like “Rugrats” and conceptualized live-action adaptations like “The Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder.” Furthermore, a sequel film to the iconic “Zoey 101” was also produced.
Behind the scenes, the reboot was a collaborative effort between Nickelodeon Studios and Awesomeness. The creative forces driving the show included Jay Kogen and Ali Schouten as executive producers. Notably, Cosgrove reprised her role and wore the hat of an executive producer alongside producers Trainor and Alissa Vradenburg.
While the announcement may be bittersweet for fans, the impact of “iCarly” — its original run and the reboot — is undeniable. It remains a testament to how characters and stories can transcend time, staying relevant and touching the hearts of audiences across generations.
