Adult Swim ends its partnership with Justin Roiland due to domestic abuse charges. “Rick and Morty” to continue with new voice actors for Roiland’s characters.

Marie Moore, senior VP of Communications at Adult Swim/Cartoon Network/Boomerang, confirmed that the company has severed ties with Roiland in light of recent domestic abuse charges.

Justin Roiland, known for his work on “Rick and Morty,” is facing charges for alleged domestic abuse in 2020. The animator faces a possible legal battle and is accused of false imprisonment, assault, and domestic abuse with bodily harm.

The incident involving Roiland and his ex-girlfriend, Jane Doe, took place on January 19, 2020. The protective order has prevented the release of evidence, such as police reports and medical records. Roiland’s arrest affidavit is also confidential.

Roiland is set to appear in court on April 27, and the outcome of the case will determine its impact on his career and future projects.

Roiland was a co-creator and executive producer of the hit adult animated comedy “Rick and Morty,” where he provided the voices for the titular characters.

Adult Swim continues to distribute the show, which is one of their most popular titles and has a 70-episode order from 2018.

“Rick and Morty” will continue with new voice actors for Roiland’s characters. Co-creator Dan Harmon takes over as sole showrunner, and the show is set for ten seasons.

“Rick and Morty” will continue despite Adult Swim cutting ties with co-creator Justin Roiland following his recent domestic violence charges.

The network confirmed the show’s continuation on social media, assuring fans that new material is on the way.

Marie Moore, Senior Vice President of Communications at Warner Bros and Discovery, stated that Roiland will be replaced as the voice of Rick and Morty in the Adult Swim series.

Roiland is still involved in Hulu projects, including “Solar Opposites” and “Koala Man,” and has an overall deal with 20th Television Animation.

Roiland has been charged with domestic battery and false imprisonment, with a not guilty plea and a $50,000 bond from the 2020 incident with Jane Doe.

The case is ongoing, and Roiland’s lawyer stated that the media coverage was “inaccurate.” Roiland is expected to return to court on April 27.

Hulu and 20th Television Animation have not yet commented on the situation.

The recent domestic abuse charges against Justin Roiland have led to Adult Swim cutting ties with the Rick and Morty co-creator.

However, the popular cartoon series will continue with new material, and Roiland’s voice role as Rick will be recast.

This development serves as a reminder of the serious consequences of domestic violence and the importance of holding individuals accountable for their actions.

It remains to be seen how this situation will impact Roiland’s other projects and the future of his career in the animation industry.
