There’s nothing quite as exhilarating as witnessing a classic hero take up their iconic role once again in the world of superheroes.

The final trailer for “The Flash” delivers just that, with Michael Keaton returning as Batman, a character he last portrayed in 1992’s Tim Burton masterpiece, “Batman Returns.”

The latest DC/Warner Bros. movie trailer debuted at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Tuesday and began with Keaton’s Bruce Wayne explaining to Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen that the loss of his parents shaped him. (DC, Warner Bros., and CNN are all subsidiaries of Warner Bros. Discovery.)

Keaton’s Wayne shares his journey of trying to correct past injustices through fighting crime, believing it would bring his parents back. The trailer teases captivating scenes of his Batcave.

“You actually did it,” he tells Allen, referring to the film’s storyline where Miller’s eponymous hero, The Flash, goes back in time to save his parents, inadvertently “breaking the universe.”

The trailer features additional interactions with DC newcomer Sasha Calle as Supergirl and the return of villain General Zod, played by Michael Shannon. (Shannon last portrayed the otherworldly antagonist in 2016’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.”)

One of the most captivating moments in the trailer shows Keaton wearing his iconic Batsuit, complete with the classic black and yellow Batman emblem, repeating a line from the 1989 “Batman” film when he faced off against Jack Nicholson’s wicked and zany Joker:

“You wanna get nuts? Let’s get nuts.”

The anticipation surrounding “The Flash” has been steadily building as the film promises to explore the DC multiverse concept. Fans are eager to see how the story unfolds and its implications for the future of the DC Extended Universe.

Apart from Michael Keaton’s iconic return, the movie also features Ben Affleck reprising his role as Batman, creating a unique dynamic between the different versions of the character. Exploring alternate timelines and realities is expected to open possibilities for future DC films.

Director Andy Muschietti has previously shared his excitement about the project, expressing that “The Flash” will provide a fresh and thrilling experience for long-time fans and franchise newcomers. The film’s ensemble cast, including Kiersey Clemons as Iris West and Maribel Verdú as Nora Allen, further adds to the movie’s appeal.

As the release date approaches, fans eagerly await how “The Flash” pays homage to its iconic predecessors while simultaneously creating a new, engaging narrative. The blend of nostalgia and innovation is set to make “The Flash” a must-watch superhero movie this summer.

Mark your calendars for the theatrical release of “The Flash” on June 16, and prepare for an unforgettable adventure through the DC multiverse.
