Iconic “Sex and the City” actress, Kim Cattrall, is set to bring back her famous character, Samantha Jones, in the second season of “And Just Like That…”.

Samantha Jones is returning, indeed.

Kim Cattrall, who decided not to return as Samantha Jones for the first season of “Sex and the City” revival, “And Just Like That…”, will now appear in the second season. This information was confirmed by a representative for Max (previously HBO Max) to the New York Post on May 31.

Cattrall, 66, filmed her cameo on March 22 without interacting with the rest of the cast or series creator Michael Patrick King, as reported by Variety, citing unnamed sources. It’s believed she will only feature in a single scene.

The announcement of Cattrall’s return comes just before the second season of AJLT premieres. The show, starring original “SATC” actresses Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis, follows the storyline from the popular HBO show and its two spin-off movies.

Cattrall has been vocal about her lack of interest in returning to the franchise over the years. Speaking to Variety in May 2022, she commented, “It’s a great wisdom to know when enough is enough.” She added, “I also didn’t want to compromise what the show was to me. The way forward seemed clear.”

Cattrall revealed that she was “never asked to be part of the reboot” but also acknowledged that she had made her decision not to return after 2010’s “Sex and the City 2” quite clear.

She questioned the idea of returning to a role from 25 years ago, stating, “Everything has to grow, or it dies.” She appreciated the intelligent decision to end the series without repetition and that the movies helped to tie up loose ends.

Rumours of tension between Cattrall and Parker have been circulating for some time, but Parker denied any ongoing feud.

“There is not a ‘fight’ going on,” Parker, 58, stated on The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast last June. She emphasized, “There has been no public dispute, spat, conversations, or allegations made by me or anybody on my behalf.”

Despite Cattrall’s absence from the first season of AJLT, her character was kept alive through text exchanges with Carrie Bradshaw (Parker). Carrie reached out to Samantha in the first season finale, now living in London.

Speaking to Variety, Cattrall called the decision to keep her character in the story “odd,” adding, “I don’t know how to feel about it.”

Samantha Returns! Kim Cattrall, featured in all six seasons of “Sex and the City” and its two spin-off movies but did not return for the first season of “And Just Like That…”, is set to appear in the show’s second season.

Carrie and Aidan Reunite?

For fans curious about the status of Carrie and Aidan, a February 2022 picture of Sarah Jessica Parker and John Corbett filming a scene for the second season might hint at something.

Aidan Comes Back John Corbett, who portrayed Carrie’s boyfriend Aidan in the third and fourth seasons of “Sex and the City,” is confirmed to return for a substantial, multi-episode story arc in the second season, according to an official confirmation by Max in January.

Tony Danza Joins the Cast

In the second season, Tony Danza will also be a new face, portraying the actor who plays Che’s father in her sitcom pilot.

Iconic Dress Returns

In a photo from the “And Just Like That…” set taken on Nov. 3, Carrie was spotted in her favourite Vivienne Westwood wedding dress from her marriage to Mr. Big (Chris Noth) in the 2008 “Sex and the City” movie. Could there be another wedding on the horizon?

Remembering Elizabeth Taylor

Fans were puzzled by the noticeable absence of Charlotte’s dog, Elizabeth Taylor, in the first season. In the second season, this oversight has been corrected. On Nov. 15, costume designers Molly Rogers and Danny Santiago shared a painting of Elizabeth Taylor on Instagram.

Kristin Davis commented, “My first baby.”

May she rest in peace.

A Joyful Second Season

The first season of “And Just Like That…” was centred around themes of death and grief, but the upcoming second season promises to be more upbeat, according to Sarah Aubrey, Max’s head of originals.

While “And Just Like That…” embarks on a new season filled with joyful narratives, the unexpected return of Kim Cattrall as Samantha Jones undoubtedly adds a touch of intrigue. With fresh faces and reflective elements, the second season seeks to engage new viewers and keep devoted fans hooked. So, mark your calendars for June 22, when this adventurous and captivating sequel to “Sex and the City” returns to Max.
