The anticipation for a potential sequel to the Wayans brothers’ hit comedy, White Chicks, has been left unfulfilled as a deceptive social media post generated misleading excitement.
According to the Atlanta Black Star, Marlon Wayans dispelled the inaccurate speculations concerning a future sequel, which was incited by a fraudulent poster making its rounds on the internet. In response, Wayans shared the poster on his personal Instagram profile, emphatically clarifying its inaccuracy with the caption, “Not true…AT ALL!”
Fans expressed their disappointment vehemently. One even vented their frustration by stating how “freaking pissed” they were and humorously threatened to “write a letter” in response to the misleading information.
Some fans proposed that the attention generated by the fraudulent poster should prompt the Wayans brothers to produce something, with a fan suggesting, “At least release a rough cut on Tubi.”
Marlon Wayans has previously discussed the demanding task of becoming the characters in various interviews, discouraging him from considering a sequel. In a 2022 GQ interview, he stated that he would contemplate another White Chicks film if technological advancements could allow him to transform into a white woman digitally, thereby avoiding strenuous physical transformations.
“That movie almost killed us,” he declared. “We’d work 14 hours after that. It takes an hour to take the makeup off. Shawn and I would get two hours of sleep for 65 or 60 days…That was hard and almost killed us.”
Wayans is currently featuring alongside Viola Davis and Chris Tucker in the film Air, which portrays the massive deal between Nike and Michael Jordan. Additionally, he is developing the Book of Marlon, a semi-autobiographical comedy series for Starz, where he will serve as the star, co-writer, and executive producer.
In the meantime, fans of the Wayans brothers will have to content themselves with their existing work and eagerly look forward to the fresh comedic content Marlon Wayans is crafting. Despite the dashed hopes for a White Chicks sequel, the Wayans’ creative endeavours continue to entertain and inspire. As Marlon charts his path, his unique voice in comedy promises new laughs and insightful reflections on contemporary life.
