The 2010 film’s ensemble is back to voice their iconic characters in the anime series, ‘Scott Pilgrim Takes Off.’

The newly released trailer for ‘Scott Pilgrim Takes Off’ showcases the return of the indie rock sensation, Sex Bob-Omb. However, they’ve received an animated twist.

Netflix has provided fans with a sneak peek of the much-anticipated anime adaptation of Scott Pilgrim. This series taps into the voices of the renowned 2010 movie, ‘Scott Pilgrim vs. the World,’ and fuses them with animations that mirror the aesthetic of Bryan Lee O’Malley’s source graphic novels, the foundation of the original movie.

‘Scott Pilgrim’ narrates the adventures of its titular character (played by Michael Cera), a young Toronto-based musician captivated by the enigmatic Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead). But to pursue Ramona, he must vanquish her seven “Evil Exes.” The teaser gives glimpses of classic moments, such as the Sex Bob-Omb rehearsal and the poignant conversation between Scott and Ramona on a snowy swing set.

Edgar Wright spearheads the series as an executive producer, with O’Malley and BenDavid Grabinski donning the roles of writers and co-showrunners. A significant lure for fans, beyond the mesmerizing animations, is the reprised voice cast from the original film. This stellar lineup has seen many ascend in their careers post the movie’s debut, including Oscar laureate Brie Larson, Marvel’s Chris Evans, and Emmy contenders like Aubrey Plaza and Kieran Culkin. Accompanying these stars are Alison Pill, Anna Kendrick, Jason Schwartzman, Mae Whitman, Johnny Simmons, Satya Bhabha, Mark Webber, Ellen Wong, and Brandon Routh.

As the buzz surrounding the animated adaptation of ‘Scott Pilgrim Takes Off’ continues to grow, it’s clear that this blend of nostalgic voice casting and vibrant animation is setting the stage for a fresh yet familiar experience. Both new and die-hard fans of the franchise have a treat in store this November 17th, as they’ll get to relive Scott’s adventures in an entirely new medium. Be sure to mark your calendars and join the epic journey on Netflix.
