The esteemed French fashion label, Balmain, faced a setback when many designs, intended for unveiling at an upcoming Paris fashion event, were stolen. Olivier Rousteing, the brand’s creative director, reported that a truck transporting approximately 50 pieces from the new collection was intercepted between a Parisian airport and Balmain’s central office.
Fortunately, Rousteing confirmed the truck driver’s safety.
Taking to Instagram, he expressed his disappointment: “We’re working on recreating the designs, but this act is utterly disheartening.”
Despite this unforeseen challenge, Balmain is slated to showcase its Spring-Summer 2024 line on September 27, as part of the illustrious Paris Fashion Week, which also sees big names like Louis Vuitton, Dior, Chanel, and Hermes. While a representative from Balmain verified the show’s continuation, they chose not to comment further on the theft as it’s under investigation.
Ownership of Balmain rests with Mayhoola, an investment firm supported by the Qatari royal lineage.
