Sky-High Birthday Celebration
Lucy Koenig, a nearly 99-year-old thrill-seeker, celebrated her upcoming birthday in an adrenaline-fueled style by skydiving in tandem. Not only did she undertake this adventure herself, but she also brought along her great-grandson, Nicholas Tait, for the unforgettable journey.
An Unstoppable Spirit
Nicholas described his great-grandmother as a daredevil, praising her fearless demeanour. “She has no fear, no fear at all,” he mentioned. Koenig’s adventurous spirit extends beyond skydiving, having previously experienced ziplining, elephant riding, and a prior skydiving jump. Despite her age, Koenig is always ready for a new adventure, stating, “I don’t scare easy.”
Resilience Born From a Difficult Past
Koenig attributes her resilience and thirst for adventure to her past. She grew up in Austria during World War II, witnessing the struggles and horrors of the conflict. Her early life experiences may have moulded her into someone who doesn’t easily give in and believes in taking risks.
An Inspiring Jump
The exciting skydiving expedition took place at the Skydive Vancouver Centre in Abbotsford. Koenig and her grandson leaped from an impressive altitude of 10,000 feet. Despite the chill of the sky-high dive, Koenig was enamoured by the breathtaking view.
A Life Lesson
Koenig passes on a powerful message to others in her adventurous spirit: “Live life to the fullest and do what makes you happy.” Regardless of whether skydiving is someone’s “cup of tea,” her life motto resonates with many.
As for her 100th birthday celebration, Koenig keeps us all in suspense as she contemplates her next thrilling escapade.
