Milan Fashion Week started on Wednesday, following New York and London’s events, showcasing designs for the upcoming autumn/winter 2023-2024 season.
Fendi, the Italian luxury label, presented a collection that deconstructed traditional masculine tailoring with designs such as pleated skirt aprons on trouser suits, shoulder-baring waistcoats, and boiler suits with skirts.
Designer Kim Jones was inspired by jewelry designer Delfina Delettrez Fendi’s personal style, as she incorporates the label’s archives into her outfits.
The collection was described as “deconstructed but luxurious” with a nod to punk and DIY styles, while the colour palette was mainly pale blue, gray, cream, brown, and black with pops of pink and orange.
On the other hand, Alberta Ferretti’s collection was predominantly dark, with colours such as burgundy, black, and brown and flashes of red on select pieces.
The show opened with a strapless grey gown and a series of grey outfits paired with black shiny gloves, including trousers, short dresses, velvet gowns, corduroy suits, belted coats, and jackets.
The evening looks were all black, featuring sparkling jackets, sheer dresses, and matched tops and skirts.
Milan Fashion Week will feature over 50 catwalk shows from prominent designers such as Giorgio Armani, Prada, Gucci, and Dolce & Gabbana and conclude on February 27.
The event, one of the most anticipated in the fashion calendar, is expected to draw in a large crowd of industry professionals, fashion enthusiasts, and celebrities.
The shows will take place at various venues across the city and offer a glimpse into the latest fashion trends and styles for the upcoming season.
In addition to the traditional runway shows, Milan Fashion Week will also feature presentations, exhibitions, and events that showcase the work of emerging and established designers.
The event is a platform for creativity and innovation, where designers can showcase their ideas and designs to a global audience.
Aside from the fashion shows, Milan Fashion Week is known for its glamorous parties, events, and dinners, bringing together fashion industry insiders, celebrities, and influencers.
The city transforms into a hub of fashion and style, where the latest trends are set, and new ideas are born.
