Louis Vuitton, a subsidiary of LVMH.PA brought its fall-winter collection to life on Monday at the Musee d’Orsay in Paris. The event showcased a modern array of playful and sculptural designs on a sleek black runway inspired by Parisian streets.
Under the creative direction of Nicolas Ghesquiere, the artistic director of the brand’s women’s collections, the show explored the essence of French style with a playful twist. Ghesquiere played with clothing volumes and trompe l’oeil effects, such as boots that appeared to be black high heels paired with white socks and coats that mimicked blazers. The collection also included Bermuda shorts, cinched wide bustier dresses, glittering beaded gowns, and various handbags, including one designed to look like a Parisian street sign.
At the show’s end, the sound of footsteps was projected, giving the illusion of models walking down the runway, an effect created by sound artist Nicolas Becker. Ghesquiere made a grand entrance and greeted guests in the front row, including film stars Emma Stone, Zendaya, and Catherine Deneuve and members of the family of LVMH’s chairman and CEO, Bernard Arnault. Pharrell Williams, the newly appointed artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear, was also in attendance.
Paris Fashion Week concludes on Tuesday, featuring prominent fashion labels such as Dior (owned by LVMH), Saint Laurent (owned by Kering SA), Valentino, and Chanel.
