The Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany has launched a new digital campaign called “Our Holocaust Story: A Pledge to Remember.” The goal of the campaign is to pass the testimonies to to the new generations as the number of survivors dwindles.
The campaign features over 100 Holocaust survivors and their families from around the world sharing their stories on social media platforms using the hashtag #OurHolocaustStory.
A Pledge to Remember
The goal of the campaign is to ensure that the stories of the Holocaust survivors are never forgotten, and their legacy is passed on to future generations. With approximately 240,000 survivors still alive today, living in Europe, Israel, the US, and elsewhere, the conference seeks to use social media as a means of reaching a wider audience and preserving these stories for years to come.
Assia Gorban and Ruth Gorban Participate in the Campaign
Assia Gorban, a Holocaust survivor, and her granddaughter Ruth Gorban, who lives in Berlin, participated in the campaign and shared their story. Ruth Gorban is concerned about the reemergence of antisemitism in Germany and elsewhere but is proud to be Jewish and will pass it on to her children when she becomes a mother.
The power of Social Media
The power of social media in spreading awareness about the Holocaust has been evident in recent years, with campaigns such as the #WeRemember campaign and the #NeverAgain movement.
The Our Holocaust Story campaign aims to build on this momentum by featuring the stories of survivors and their families, thereby personalizing the impact of the Holocaust.
A Call to Action
The Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany is calling on people worldwide to participate in the campaign by sharing their stories using the hashtag #OurHolocaustStory.
The hope is that the campaign will not only serve as a means of preserving the memories of Holocaust survivors but also inspire action towards promoting tolerance, acceptance, and respect for all.
Preserving the Memory of the Holocaust
The Our Holocaust Story campaign is a powerful reminder of the atrocities committed during the Holocaust and the importance of preserving the memories of those who survived. As the number of survivors dwindles, it becomes even more critical to ensure that their stories are heard and remembered for generations to come.
Through the power of social media and the dedication of organizations like the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany, we can work towards a world where the lessons of the Holocaust are never forgotten.
