Governor Samuel Alejandro García Sepúlveda announced the conclusion of the Covid-19 health emergency in the state this Thursday.
In the Nuevo León Informa report, the Governor revealed that the state had maintained a Green Traffic Light status for eight months and has recently experienced a drastic decrease in infections.
He also commended the State Health Department’s leadership and the citizens’ sense of responsibility, contributing to the sixth wave’s positive outcomes and the conclusion.
“Today, as a government, if we can declare that Nuevo León has triumphed over Covid, it’s thanks to you, the men and women of Nuevo León who did their part, who collaborated as a team to overcome the challenge and seek solutions to any issue,” said García Sepúlveda.
“That’s why we can now announce the end of the Covid-19 emergency in Nuevo León,” he added.
Despite the economic crisis caused by the pandemic, Governor Samuel Alejandro García Sepúlveda highlighted that Nuevo León set a national example in health, education, and employment.
He noted that the state was the first in the country to implement the Cross-Border Vaccination Program for children under 18 and the first to resume in-person classes and recover its economy during 2021 and 2022.
Additionally, he reiterated his administration’s commitment to working as a team for the health, early childhood, environment, mobility, water conservation, culture, and economy of Nuevo León.
“We are a balanced government; there is no left, right, or polarization here. We are a government that generates wealth sustainably, always prioritizing the most crucial aspect: equality for all people,” he emphasized.
NL Health Abolishes Face Mask Requirement on Public Transport
Alma Rosa Marroquín, Secretary of Health in the state, reported that they had maintained a green traffic light status for eight months as part of the case incident. As of yesterday, April 12, there were 150 new cases and 1 death, hospitalizations stood at 1.3 percent, and throughout the sixth wave, the number of patients in intensive care ranged from 0 to 5. She also reported one death per day in the last week.
Alma Rosa declared the abolition of face masks on public transport and mandated their use only in hospitals, nursing homes, and daycare centers.
